06/07/12

Many of my themes in recent years are turbulent...oil spills, heating sea water, storms.  Painting this tranquil moment is pleasant.  Today I added more red coral and some sea foam to Starfishy Afternoon.

Star Fishy Afternoon

This morning Jim helped me unroll a 10 foot long canvas from 2006 and staple it on a wall inside the garage for me to work on before temp and humidity rose.  It's the Starfishy Afternoon, depicting a languid figure among waves, fish, atmosphere.  Several ideas and adjustments have been made on it today.  It will hang there many days while ideas gel and to dry.  This could be a window or focal piece in my fall solo show at The Dowling Museum/ Ann Rudd Art Center.  Opening night and afternoon are October 13th and 14th and will hang til November 30th.  Also, I have a small watercolor after my large Minnows Schooling in the Gulf, a subject which will generate a lot of pix for a while longer....
